About the role
MMD Steel Group is looking for a Head of Production (Rolling Mills) for its Senegal operation. You own rolling mill output end to end: the plan, the crews, the rolling parameters and the cost of every tonne that leaves the mill.
What you will do
- Own rolling mill production performance: tonnage, yield, quality, rejection rate and cost per tonne.
- Lead mill managers and shift teams across the rolling operation.
- Set and control rolling parameters, pass schedules and roll changes with the technical team.
- Plan production against order book and billet availability, and protect delivery commitments.
- Work with maintenance on preventive plans, roll shop performance and downtime reduction.
- Own safety on the mill floor: hot metal handling, guarding, and the procedures that keep people out of harm.
- Develop the technical strength of the production team.
What you bring
- Degree in mechanical, metallurgical or production engineering.
- Twelve or more years in rolling mills, with senior production leadership.
- Deep knowledge of long-product rolling: bar, wire rod or section mills.
- French and English.
Where you will work
Dakar, Senegal, on site, reporting to the plant head.
