The job
About the role
MMD Steel Group is hiring an HSE Resource for its Ghana operation in Tema. You work where the risk is: on the floor, with the crews, making the safety system real rather than documented.
What you will do
- Carry out daily plant inspections and stop work that is unsafe.
- Issue and audit permits to work for hot work, height, confined space and isolation.
- Run toolbox talks, inductions and refresher training for employees and contractors.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, and follow corrective actions to closure.
- Maintain HSE records, statistics and reporting.
- Check that protective equipment, fire systems and emergency arrangements are in working order.
What you bring
- Diploma or degree in occupational health and safety or a technical discipline, with HSE certification (NEBOSH, OSHA or equivalent).
- Three or more years in an industrial HSE role.
- The confidence to challenge unsafe work regardless of who is doing it.
- English.
Where you will work
Tema, Ghana, on site, reporting to the Head of Security and Safety.
