About the role
MMD Steel Group is hiring a Rolling Mill In-charge for its Mali operation in Bamako. You are the person in charge of the mill while it is rolling: crew, parameters, output and the calls that keep it running.
What you will do
- Run the rolling mill shift: manning, sequence, roll changes and section changes.
- Hold rolling parameters, dimensions and surface quality within specification.
- Reduce cobbles, rejections and idle time, and record the causes properly.
- Coordinate with maintenance on breakdowns and preventive work.
- Enforce safe practice around hot metal, shears, coolers and cranes.
- Hand over the mill and the shift with a complete report.
What you bring
- Diploma or degree in mechanical or metallurgical engineering, or equivalent trade progression.
- Six or more years in a rolling mill, including shift charge responsibility.
- Practical grasp of pass design, guides, roll shop and mill setting.
- French; working English is useful.
Where you will work
Bamako, Mali, on site, on shift, reporting to the production head.
