About the role
MMD Steel Group is hiring a Furnace Fitter for its Mali operation in Bamako. The furnace is the heart of the melting shop; this role keeps it mechanically fit between and during campaigns.
What you will do
- Maintain furnace mechanicals: shell, roof, tilting system, electrode arms, hydraulics and water-cooled panels.
- Carry out preventive checks during campaigns and lead repairs at shutdown.
- Support relining and refractory work interfaces.
- Diagnose leaks, wear and mechanical failure and repair them durably.
- Record work, wear trends and spare requirements.
- Work to hot-metal, isolation and confined-space safety rules.
What you bring
- Technical certificate or diploma in mechanical trade.
- Five or more years in steel melting shop maintenance, furnace experience essential.
- Strong on hydraulics, water-cooling systems and heavy rigging.
- French; shift and shutdown work.
