About the role
MMD Steel Group is hiring a Diesel Generator Operator for its Burkina Faso plant in Ouagadougou. The plant runs on reliable power; you are the person who keeps the generating sets running and the load steady.
What you will do
- Operate and monitor diesel generating sets across the shift: load, temperature, pressure, fuel and coolant.
- Start, stop and synchronise sets, and switch load safely between sources.
- Carry out routine checks and first-line maintenance: filters, oil, belts, batteries and leaks.
- Log readings, fuel consumption and running hours, and report abnormalities immediately.
- Support the maintenance team during planned servicing and breakdowns.
- Follow lock-out, tag-out and site safety rules without exception.
What you bring
- Technical certificate in mechanical, electrical or power generation trades.
- Two or more years operating industrial generating sets, ideally in a plant environment.
- Ability to read gauges and basic schematics and to keep an accurate log.
- French; shift work.
Where you will work
Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on site, on shift, reporting to the utilities or maintenance in-charge.
