About the role
MMD Steel Group is looking for a Head of Security and Safety for its Ghana operation in Tema. Two responsibilities, one job: the site is physically secure, and the people working in it go home unhurt.
What you will do
- Own site security: guarding contract, access control, gate discipline, patrols, CCTV and incident response.
- Own occupational safety: risk assessment, permits to work, safe systems of work and the safety rules on the plant floor.
- Investigate incidents, near misses and losses, and drive corrective action to closure.
- Run safety induction and training for employees and contractors, and audit compliance on site.
- Manage material movement controls at the gate: weighbridge, scrap in, finished goods out.
- Report safety and security performance and the actions behind the numbers.
What you bring
- Degree or diploma in occupational safety, security management or a technical field, with recognised HSE certification.
- Eight or more years across safety and security in an industrial setting, including team leadership.
- Experience managing a guarding contractor and running investigations that stick.
- English.
Where you will work
Tema, Ghana, on site, reporting to the general manager.
