Production Manager

About the role

The Production Manager owns the plant's production output, quality and cost performance across the melt shop and rolling mill, leading the shift-supervision team to deliver the production plan safely and within budget.

What you will do

• Own the production plan and drive attainment against volume, yield, quality and cost targets across all shifts.
• Lead and develop the production-supervisor team, setting shift priorities and holding them accountable for output, quality and safety.
• Coordinate with maintenance, quality and supply-chain functions to remove production constraints (equipment availability, raw-material supply, non-conformance backlog).
• Own the production cost base (energy, consumables, conversion cost per tonne) and drive cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
• Champion a zero-harm safety culture on the shop floor; own incident investigation and corrective action for production-area events.
• Report production KPIs to plant leadership and Group Operations, and lead root-cause analysis on material shortfalls against plan.

What you bring

• BEng/BSc in Metallurgy, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years' production experience in a steel, rolling mill or heavy manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a production-management role.
• Strong understanding of melting/rolling process parameters, yield drivers and quality standards.
• Proven people-leadership across a multi-shift production team.
• Comfortable working with production/cost data in Excel and the plant's production systems.
