About the role
MMD Steel Group is hiring a Mechanical Engineer for its Ghana operation in Tema. This is hands-on plant engineering: the Steel Melting Shop, its hydraulics and the fume extraction system are yours to keep running.
What you will do
- Inspect, operate and maintain SMS mechanical equipment: furnaces, ladles, continuous casting machines and auxiliaries.
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on SMS equipment and prove it was done.
- Maintain hydraulic systems: pumps, valves, cylinders, accumulators and circuits.
- Maintain the fume extraction system, ducting, dampers and bag filters.
- Diagnose breakdowns, restore production safely and follow through on root cause.
- Plan spares and jobs ahead of shutdowns and lead work during them.
- Enforce isolation, hot-metal and lifting safety rules.
What you bring
- Degree or diploma in mechanical engineering.
- Five or more years of plant maintenance in steel or heavy industry; SMS experience preferred.
- Strong on hydraulics, rotating equipment and precision fitting.
- English; shift and shutdown work.
Where you will work
Tema, Ghana, on site, reporting to the maintenance head.
