About the role
MMD Steel Group is hiring a Maintenance AOD Fitter for its DR Congo operation in Kinshasa. The AOD converter is unforgiving equipment; this role keeps it mechanically sound and back in service fast when it is not.
What you will do
- Maintain AOD converter mechanicals: tilting drive, trunnion, hydraulics, lances and tuyere connections.
- Carry out preventive maintenance to schedule and record what was actually done.
- Respond to breakdowns, diagnose the mechanical cause and complete a durable repair.
- Support relining, campaign changes and planned shutdown work.
- Work to isolation, lock-out and hot-metal safety rules without shortcuts.
- Report faults, wear trends and spare requirements to the maintenance in-charge.
What you bring
- Technical certificate or diploma in mechanical trade or engineering.
- Five or more years of heavy mechanical maintenance in a steel melting shop; AOD or converter experience preferred.
- Confident with hydraulics, alignment, rigging and precision fitting.
- French; shift and shutdown work.
