About the role
MMD Steel Group is looking for an HSE Manager for its Ghana operation in Tema. You own health, safety and environment for a steel plant: the standard, the system behind it, and whether it holds when the plant is under pressure.
What you will do
- Own the HSE framework for the site: policies, standards, procedures and the annual plan and budget behind them.
- Drive risk assessment, permit-to-work, isolation and safe systems of work across production, maintenance and contractors.
- Lead incident and near-miss investigation, and close corrective actions properly.
- Own environmental compliance: emissions, effluent, waste and statutory permits and reporting.
- Run training, induction and competence for employees and contractors.
- Manage occupational health arrangements, including medical surveillance and insurance interfaces.
- Report HSE performance honestly to plant and group management, including what is not working.
What you bring
- Degree in environmental science, engineering or a related discipline; a master's degree is valued.
- Ten or more years in industrial HSE, including leadership in a heavy manufacturing plant.
- Recognised HSE certification (NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent) and real command of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 practice.
- English.
Where you will work
Tema, Ghana, on site, reporting to the general manager.
