About the role
MMD Steel Group is hiring a Finance Controller for its Ghana operation in Tema. You own the numbers behind a steel plant and its trading activity: what things cost, what is committed, what is collected, and what the accounts say at month end.
What you will do
- Own the monthly close and the reporting pack, and explain the result against budget and prior period.
- Run cost accounting for plant operations: standard costs, yield and consumption variances, and the cost per tonne the business steers by.
- Control working capital: receivables, payables, inventory holding and cash forecasting.
- Own budgeting and forecasting cycles with the operating heads, and challenge the assumptions behind them.
- Maintain internal control over purchasing, stores, payments and inventory movements, and follow through on audit findings.
- Handle statutory reporting, tax filings and the annual audit with the group finance function.
What you bring
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ICAG or equivalent).
- Five or more years in finance, with real manufacturing or industrial cost experience.
- Strong ERP and spreadsheet work; SAP Business One experience is valued.
- English; French is useful across the region.
Where you will work
Tema, Ghana, on site, reporting to the Head of Finance with a line to group finance.
